Policy on License Exemption of Systems in the 2.4 GHz and 5.8GHz Bands

The 2.4GHz and 5.8GHz bands belong to those designated by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) as the Industrial, Scientific and Medical (ISM) Bands. Today, if you want to use these bands for telecommunication purposes, you don’t have to submit a formal application for a license.

You can thank the 2004 Policy on License Exemption of Systems in the 2.4 GHz and 5.8GHz Bands. By creating wider access to network services, greater productivity and development of innovative applications and transactions, this Policy sought to bring Trinidad & Tobago closer to realising the goal of an Information Society.
